One thing that I've been concerned about is how my sex life would be affected by the radical hysterectomy. My surgery was January 9 and one of Dr. T2's instructions was "no intercourse" for a few weeks. Well, it has been over a month and I feel 99% mended. The only discomfort I have is some sensitivity and numbness around my incision and soreness associated with the temporary stint in my ureter. Also, if I do too much moving around (i.e., walking up stairs, lifting things, bending, twisting), I tend to see blood in my urine due to the stint rubbing up against things.
I emailed Dr. T2 last Saturday and asked if yoga and intercourse were okay and he emailed back and replied yes. Yesterday morning, we drove my Mom to the airport and thanked her for helping me during the hard parts of my recovery. And last night, E and I checked to see if everything down there is in working order.
And I'm happy to announce that it is!:) Well, there is the issue of tightness, which is expected after over 2 months without intercourse. But I also sensed that my vagina has shortened. This is expected after radiation, but I don't recall this happening after a hysterectomy. I was a bit nervous as well, but E made sure to take it slow. There was a little bit of blood that I noticed afterwards, but it wasn't continuous. Kind've what you'd expect from rough sex. I'll just monitor it moving forward...
